National Park Gates in the Eifel

You will find the National Park Gates in Schleiden-Gemünd, Simmerath-Rurberg, Monschau-Höfen, Heimbach and Nideggen. These are tourist information centres specifically for guests to the National Park, each with different themed exhibitions. In Gemünd the exhibitions focuses on “gnarled oak trees, colourful woodpeckers, and exciting stories about the forest. Free admission. The entrances and sanitary facilities are barrier free, you will also find shops that sell maps, clothing, souvenirs and more Eifel products. All National Park Gates are certified as “Travel for All”.
Starting point in the Eifel National Park
All National Park Gates are ideal starting points for hikes and cycling tours in the Eifel National Park and its adventure region. You can rent Pedelecs and trekking bicycles in Gemünd. Furthermore, there is a special room for children and a star corner.
The National Park Gate in Gemünd is starting and finishing point for a ranger tour which takes place every Saturday at 11.00 and takes about 3 hours. Ranger tours also take place at the Gate in Rurberg and Heimbach.
Opening hours of the National Park Gates
- January 1. - closed
- April 1. to October 31 - 9.00 to 13.00 and 13:30 to 17.00
- November 1. To March 31. - 10 to 13.00 - 13:30 to 16.00
- December 25 and 26 - closed
You will find more information centres throughout the National Park but they are smaller and partly without exhibitions.
