Eifel National Park
The Jungle of Tomorrow
Forest, water and wilderness can be experienced up close in the Eifel National Park. Located 65 kilometers southwest of Cologne, the large protected area is on the way back to the natural cycle of nature. On 110 square kilometers you will find many opportunities to explore the Eifel National Park in hiking boots.
Hiking on your own
Thus, the National Park is not the only, but in any case a very worthwhile destination for hikers in the northern Eifel. It is crisscrossed by 240 kilometers of well-marked and signposted hiking trails, including very famous ones like the Eifelsteig and the Wildnis-Trail, which you can tackle on your own. The same applies to the five designated "ThemenTouren" and the barrier-free hiking trail network "Wilder Kermeter" and "Wilder Weg".
On tour with a ranger
In addition, guided tours under expert guidance are offered several times a week. You can set off free of charge alongside the national park rangers. Or you can be accompanied by certified national park forest guides. There are also numerous special programs for children, families and school classes, guided tours with translation into sign language and other barrier-free offers.
Always well informed
The five national park gates in the region are ideal starting points for hikes and bike tours in the Eifel National Park. A new attraction is the exhibition "Wildnis(t)räume" in Vogelsang IP.
