Rocks, water, forests and a magnificent cultural landscape are your companions on the 313 kilometer long premium hiking trail from Aachen to Trier. You can walk the Eifelsteig, Germany's most beautiful hiking trail 2015, in stages or for several days at a time.The Eifelsteig runs through the northern Eifel in four stages.
Water & History
Between Einruhr and Gemünd (21 km) on rocky paths around the reservoirs and later across the grounds of Vogelsang IP with its visitor center and the two exhibitions "NS-Dokumentation - Destination: Herrenmensch" and "Wildnis(t)räume".
National Park & Monastery
Between Gemünd and the stage destination Steinfeld Monastery (17.5 km), a varied mix of forest, panoramic, valley and high trails forms the backdrop. The Salvatorian monastery with basilica houses a guesthouse and café with monastery store on its grounds.
Natural Spectacle & Romans
From Steinfeld Monastery, the route passes through valley meadows and wetlands with rare plants and colorful butterflies, past Roman relics, through Nettersheim with the Eifel Nature Center to Blankenheim (22.5 km).
Middle Ages & Juniper
The stage from Blankenheim with its famous castle and Roman villa to Mirbach (17.5 km) opens up the heights of Blankenheim, the Schafbach valley and the plateau around Ripsdorf with the Lampertstal valley. The juniper slopes there are impressive and lend a special character.
