Water shapes our landscape: wide meadows, v-shaped valleys, large and small streams, springs, wetlands, and ponds are habitats that give the North Eifel its special charm. This 76km long hike will lead you to numerous water sources. These include the sources of the Eifel rivers Ahr in Blankenheim and Urft and the source of the Eifel Roman Aqueduct, the Roman Canal, a nearly 2000 year old man-made technological masterpiece in the Urft valley near Nettersheim. The historical castle town Kronen-burg with its restored picturesque half-timbered houses is also located along the way.
Ideal for a day or longer
Many testimonies from Roman and Medieval times line the path and ensure exciting and entertaining moments. The castle, the Roman Villa Blankenheim, the Archeologi-cal Landscape Park, the “Green Pütz” in Nettersheim, and the castle townof Kronen-burg.
