Water characterizes our landscape: wide floodplains, deeply cut notch valleys, small and large streams, springs, swamps and ponds are habitats that give the northern Eifel a special charm. This 76 km long hike would like to take you to numerous springs. These include the springs of the Eifel rivers Ahr in Blankenheim and Urft as well as the spring capture of the Roman Eifel water conduit, the Roman canal, a technical masterpiece created by man almost 2,000 years ago in the Urft valley, near Nettersheim. The historic castle town of Kronenburg with its fortified core and picturesque half-timbered houses also lies along the way.

Ideal for a day or longer

Many testimonies from Roman times to the Middle Ages line the way and provide exciting and entertaining moments. These include Blankenheim Castle and Roman Villa, the Archaeological Landscape Park and the "Grüne Pütz" in Nettersheim and the castle village of Kronenburg. Due to its character as a circular trail with integrated loops, you can set the starting and finishing points as you wish. The length of the individual stages is also suitable for more extended day hikes. Three days hiking on the Eifeler Quellenpfad incl. overnight stay, breakfast, luggage transfer and GästeCard can also be booked as an arrangement on request.

Environmentally friendly arrival and departure

Due to the direct railroad connection with the stations in Nettersheim, Blankenheim (Bhf. Blankenheim-Wald), Schmidtheim and Dahlem, an easy and environmentally friendly arrival and departure is possible. The entrance to the Spring Path Eifel is directly at the train stations. Also a journey with theEifelsteig hiking bus or the Eifel hiking & cycling bus is possible.
