Day arrangement "In 7th heaven – EifelSchleifen Kronenburger Himmelsglück & Dem Himmel ganz nah"
This day hike combines two EifelSchleifen around the historic castle-town of Kronenburg. The 5.4 km long EifelSchleife "Kronenburger Himmelsglück" takes you on a short but crisp route through the Ohmbach nature reserve. The Ohmbach once flowed into the Kyll and now drains into Lake Kronenburg. Marsh areas at the outskirts of the forest are home to orchids, marsh marigolds, ragged robin and marsh thistles, among others.
The 5.8 km long EifelSchleife "Dem Himmel ganz nah" leads through Kronenburg with its narrow alleys and medieval houses, once home to knights, clerics, farmers and craftsmen. Today, art galleries and craft shops vivify the place. When in Kronenburg, you should take the few metres up to the castle ruins. From the viewpoint there, you have a fantastic view over the surrounding hilly landscape and Lake Kronenburg. The castle ruins of Kronenburg, which were first mentioned in a document in 1277, are the remains of the former high castle above the Kyll valley. The hike, which is 11.2 km long, is quite demanding and rewards the effort with exceptional views.
Included services
Hiking breakfast with bread rolls, butter, cold cuts (sweet and savoury), orange juice, milk, egg, coffee and tea in the restaurant in the Eifelpark Kronenburger See,
