Mechernich mining museum and the "Grube Günnersdorf" visitors mine

Discover the industrial history of Mechernich on a guided tour in the Günnersdorf mine from the heights of its mining industry of the 19th century. The Bleiberg mine, disused in 1957, was partially opened to set up the visitors’ mine. Experience under what difficult conditions the miners had to dig out the “Eifel Gold”. Accompanied by an expert guide, you can go through the underground tunnel and mining caves, stairs, and past old shafts.
The permanent exhibition in the museum shows numerous pieces from the period of active ore
mining in Mechernich. An accurate above - ground model of 30 m², in a scale of 1:100 gives you an insight of the above ground premises of the mine at the time of closing.
