Wildnis-Trail
"On the way in the primeval forest of tomorrow"
The distinctive head of the Eifel wildcat is the identifying mark of the 85-kilometer "Wildnis Trail" through the Eifel National Park. You can walk the entire route in four days. But a single day's stage is also a challenge for starters.
"Natural spectacle meets history"
The Wilderness Trail leads from Höfen via Einruhr, Gemünd and Heimbach to Zerkall. The trail runs through the impressive forests of the Eifel National Park, but also through meandering headwaters, past daffodil and wild meadows, rushing streams and crossing Lake Urft. The grounds of Vogelsang IP with its visitor center and the two exhibitions "Destiny: Herrenmensch" and "Wildnis(t)räume" are located along the way of the Wilderness Trail.
The 4 stages of the Wilderness Trail from Höfen to Zerfall:
1. Monschau-Höfen to Simmerath-Einruhr (25km)
2. Simmerath-Einruhr to Schleiden-Gemünd (20km)
3. Schleiden-Gemünd to Heimbach (22km)
4. Heimbach to Hürtgenwald-Zerkall (18km)
