On tour by ship
Right in the centre of the Eifel National Park lies the “Eifeler Seeplatte” (Eifel lake district) with the lakes: Rursee, Obersee, and Urftsee.
The “Rursee” boat tour makes it possible to glide silently though the centre of the Eifel National Park. The fleet operates every year from the beginning of April until the end of October.
The boat trip is an experience in itself, but it is also possible to combine it with a hike or a bicycle tour in the Eifel National Park.
"Rur- and Obersee" (Lakes Rur and Ober)
The electrically powered boats on the “Obersee” go from Einruhr or Rurberg toward the Urft dam in the heart of the protected area. You reach your destination in one hour or half an hour.
On the “Rursee”, diesel motor boats shuttle between Heimbach- Schwammenauel, Eschauel, Woffelsbach, and Rurberg. The one way trip takes about 45 minutes.
You can easily reach the boat dock in Schwammenauel from the train station in Heimbach.
Larger groups should book trips in advance. For information, fares and schedules, visit Rursee-Schifffahrt.
Accompanied by a ranger
A ranger of the National Park authorities accompanies the “Rursee” boat trip from Heimbach- Schwammenauel to Rurberg and back every first and third Monday of the Month. During the 1 hour and 45 minute long trip, two rangers will be available to answer questions and provide information about the Eifel National Park and its flora and fauna.
The ship docks in “Schwammenauel” and in “Rurberg” are barrier free and therefore wheelchair accessible. Nevertheless, we recommend wheelchair using guests to be accompanied. Wheelchair accessible toilets are also available on the ships.
