Rupperath Hand Weaving Museum
Rupperath, a small village with a long tradition of hand weaving, is in the municipality of Bad Münstereifel, directly on the border to Rhineland-Pfalz. There was still a weaving workshop in the Harscheider Weg in 1952. After the workshop closed this craftsmanship tradition ceased, until the teacher Robert A. Esser came to Rupperath in 1957. He found an old weaving loom in the attic of the school and began to research the history of this craftsmanship.
Today the museum shows the 6000year old cultural history of spinning, spooling and weaving. How the different spinning and weaving apparatus function is shown for interested visitors.
