Eifel Loops (EifelSchleifen)
really.good.hiking (echt.gut.wandern) is the promise we make to the hiking world of the future with the EifelSpuren&EifelSchleifen. The 94 Eifel loops offer a lot of opportunities to explore the North Eifel in your hiking boots. All trails have been specially equipped with catchy names. In Bad Münstereifel you can hike the EifelSchleife "About Stars and Romans" (Von Sternen und Römern). You will find the alleged traditional Cologne meal “Himmel un Äad” (black pudding, fried onions, and mashed potato with apple sauce) as a hiking trail in Zülpich. In Dahlem you can be "Close to Heaven" (Dem Himmel ganz nah). One loop in Hellenthal is especially dedicated to the "Kingfisher" (Eisvogel). Food determines the themes of the EifelSchleife "Bread Path" (Brotpfad) in Dahlem and "Milk Trail" (Milchweg) in Kall. In Euskirchen, one EifelSchleife takes you to the former monastery "Schweinheim Monastery" (Kloster Schweinheim) and in Mechernich, the EifelSchleife "Satzvey Castle" (Burg Satzvey) takes you back to medieval times. You are spoiled for choices!
EifelSchleifen for Everyone
The tours vary in difficulty and, with a length of between 4 and 22 km, are also suitable for different tastes. Possible are thus walks, shorter hikes, but also challenging tours with some altitude meters to overcome. All EifelSchleifen are laid out as circular hiking trails, so that your hike is easy to plan. In many cases, there is a an Eifel platform "cycle and hike train station" nearby. Getting lost is practically impossible, since all trails are marked according to a uniform system throughout. Just follow the markings with the logo of the EifelSchleifen and the name of your respective tour.
