Municipality of Kall
The National Park community of Kall is a wonderful base for hiking and cycling in the northern Eifel. Because of its location on the railway line Cologne-Trier an easy and comfortable journey by train from Cologne, Trier and Bonn is guaranteed.
Cycle paths like the Eifel Heights Route or the valleys route "Urft" give you the opportunity for a bicycle ride according to your wishes. Hikers may find exciting and diverse hiking options during their hike on the EifelSteig and the Roman Canal Trail.
Other perfect hiking conditions offer the Pingen hiking path and the Milk Trail.
As a special attraction, Steinfeld Monastery awaits your visit. One may find the most interesting architectural eras in the romantic basilica. Because of the world-famous König-Organ, as well as the mortal remains of Hermann-Josef von Steinfeld, who was rever-ed as a saint, the church is a famous pilgrimage site. Displayed are more than a thousand exhibits in the treasury of the monastery. The Academy of the present-day Salva-torian- Monastery offers an extensive training program. Music fans should take note of the weekend after Pentecost when the Eifel Music Festival takes place.
Hidden in the forest near Kall-Urft is the underground nuclear bomb-proof, former bunker of the NRW state government in case of emergencies. In 1993, the Cabinet of Düs-seldorf decided to give up the bunker. In 1997 the bunker was sold to private individuals. The (back then) secret property is now open for the public since 2009.
Information about the National Park community of Kall and the northern Eifel is available at the tourist information at the Kall train station (RVK-MCC).
Ideal starting and finishing points for hiking and cycling are the cycle and hike train stations in Kall, Scheven and Urft.
