Vogelsang IP
International Place
At the centre of the Eifel National Park there is the largest legacy of National Socialism: The former NS Ordensburg Vogelsang. After the World War II the British occupied it and after it became a Belgian military training area. Since 2006 it has developed into a new place: Vogelsang IP as “International Place” for tolerance, diversity and peaceful co-existence. Today Vogelsang IP is an exhibition, cultural and educational centre, a place of extra- curricular learning, and unusual conference and events room, including a well-preserved original cinema from the 1950s.
The heart of the Vogelsang IP is the new Forum with its striking Visitors’ Centre made from steel and glass directly on the historical Adlerhof. From here you can directly access the two central barrier-free and permanent exhibitions in four languages: NS documentation “Destiny: Master Race/NS Ordensburgen between fascination and crime” and the Eifel National Park Centre Adventure Exhibition “Wilderness dreams and spaces”. There are guided tours around the grounds and in the exhibitions, climbing up in the tower in addition to detailed formats with different emphasis on themes for groups of all kinds.
Vogelsang is the Eifel National Park hiking centre: the well-known EifelSteig hiking trail and
Wilderness Trail run through the grounds and many circular trails lead around and past the Urft Lake invite you to explore the surroundings.
